The Fine Art line from Artistic Urns, for When Ordinary Won’t Do!

This urn comes from a piece of Cherry wood. Like all fruit trees, the Cherry actually belongs to the rose family. American Colonists used the cherry tree for its fruit, medicinal properties and home furnishings. They mixed cherry juice with rum to create Cherry Bounce, a bitter but highly favored cordial. Found in the Eastern United States, the average tree is 60 to 70 feet in height. The heartwood of cherry varies from rich red to reddish brown and will darken with age and exposure to light. In contrast the sapwood is creamy white.

This Cherry tree was rescued from a pile of wood being split for firewood. Over 7 feet around at the base makes this an unusually large Cherry. The red heartwood rings make up most of the entire tree indicating it came from a region with a shorter growing season.
