This urn is made from Camphor wood. The Camphor tree is native to Asia, but was brought into the United States and has naturalized in parts of the Southeast. It is a large evergreen that will grow to 100 feet tall. Camphor has a very characteristic odor, for which the tree is named. It is recognizable from the extracts used in medicated chest rubs. Wood color can be highly variable depending on growing conditions; generally a light brown with shades of red or olive green.
